Julia Opaleski is the director of learning and development at Charles Aris Executive Search.
She earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology and environmental science from Guilford College in 2016, where she researched North Carolina barrier island ecology and development. Julia also worked with the Greensboro Parks & Recreation Department at Lake Brandt Marina before joining Charles Aris as an associate recruiter upon graduation.
As a recruiter, Julia quickly found her niche within the Strategy Practice where she focused her efforts in the consumer industry. Her success landed a promotion to senior associate, associate practice leader and then to the consumer, retail and hospitality practice director, a new position she helped design in partnership with senior leaders at the firm.
Charles Aris offered the opportunity to transition from practice director to learning and development director after recognizing Julia’s ability to master the 14-step process of landing top talent for search partners and to successfully train and manage a diverse team of associate recruiters.
Julia still has a deep passion for the outdoors in her personal life, which took her to Tampa Bay in 2019. In the heart of the Sunshine State, she forged her own path as the first fully remote Charles Aris employee.
When she isn’t building new trainings or assisting Charles Aris recruiters through their searches, you can find her leading birding tours, stewarding programs and fundraising events as an active board member of Friends of the Tampa Bay National Wildlife Refuges.
