Charles Aris hosts second annual mid-year team building event

The team at Charles Aris Executive Search convened at its Greensboro, North Carolina headquarters during the first week of June to learn about intergenerational workplaces, raise money for local nonprofit BackPack Beginnings and visit the International Civil Rights Center & Museum.

In 2022, Charles Aris announced it would pursue a “choose where you work” model, allowing team members to work from home, in the office or both. This summer event serves as a touch base for the firm to build relationships and stay connected as new hires join from across state lines and time zones.

This year’s event commenced with a day-long workshop at the Marriott Greensboro Downtown. Referencing personality profiles conducted by the employee engagement company Emergenetics International in 2022, this workshop called on Charles Aris team members to learn about the strengths and advantages of serving within an intergenerational workforce.

Ranging from the Traditionalist Generation (1928 to 1945) to Generation Z (1996 to 2012), today’s workforce includes a wide range of skills and experiences, and this workshop taught how the Charles Aris team can learn from these different generations and collaborate more productively.

Afterwards, Charles Aris gathered at the Greensboro Grasshoppers’ First National Bank Field for a night of baseball and contributed donations to local charity BackPack Beginnings’ Bust the Bus food drive and fundraiser. The event, which collects donations for local children in need, raised $22,192 and collected 1,650 pounds of food donations during its fourth annual event.

The Greensboro Grasshoppers also defeated the Wilmington Blue Rocks during the game on June 8 with Infielder Will Matthiessen’s walk-off home run. The final score was 1-0.

Charles Aris then concluded its summer event the following day by visiting and touring the International Civil Rights Center & Museum in downtown Greensboro to provide team members with a moment of reflection ahead of the upcoming federal holiday, Juneteenth. This museum provides a detailed look at American segregation and serves as a tribute to The Greensboro Four, whose lunch counter sit-ins sparked protests that would bring civil rights to the national stage and ultimately contribute to integration in the South.

Charles Aris team members left the two-day event with a renewed sense of camaraderie and returned to their homes anticipating the next touch base in December: The Charles Aris year-end conference and holiday party. Until then, the firm expects to add additional new hires with no regional limit. The team currently spans over 10 states.
