Is your job not quite a career? Find your home away from home
The alarm clock sounds. It’s 6:30 a.m. and the start to another workweek. For many, embarking on the newest five-day professional journey presents a series of obstacles which must be addressed out of necessity, not necessarily out of desire. As one of the nation’s leading executive search firms, Charles Aris Inc. knows that organizational culture can and should be a daily focus – one that applies to our work with clients, candidates and our own team.
Home is where you are surrounded by those you love, where you can focus on doing things you are passionate about. Nothing can substitute for home, but an ideal fit between employer and employee can help bridge that gap. Our goal? Find a remedy for those Monday-morning blues by placing top talent in mission-critical roles in organizations where they will embrace the daily mission rather than the daily grind.
According to the United States’ Bureau of Labor Statistics, the time use for an average employee on a typical workday is 8.9 hours – in contrast to just 7.7 hours dedicated to sleep. Put simply, many people work more than they sleep on any given day in any given week. Those 40 to 45 hours spent working represent valuable time that could be spent with friends and family, seeing the world, impacting communities and pursuing passions. Unfortunately, it is difficult to live without some form of work, and at Charles Aris Inc., we are guided by several principles which influence the way we view our careers and our recruitment services on behalf of clients and candidates.
Principle 10: We work to live – We do not live to work. Finding that proper balance between your professional life and your personal life is a significant factor in one’s happiness. Ultimately, your career can enable you to do the things you enjoy … but that doesn’t mean that work can’t or shouldn’t be fun. We place candidates in roles which they will relish, and we work tirelessly to find that perfect fit for them and client organizations alike. Conversely, we strive to bring people onto our internal team who are process oriented, enjoy communicating with others, and can solve complex problems over the course of a talent search.
Principle 7: We know that activity drives productivity – Our goal is to maximize the 40-plus hours presented to us each workweek in a concerted effort to find our clients the best talent in the marketplace; find our candidates the best organizational fit; and create an internal environment that cultivates success. We stay busy, we stay organized, and we create results.
Principle 20: We know that we are lucky – Our industry enables us to impact individuals and groups of people each and every day, all in organizations ranging from cutting-edge start-ups to Fortune 500 firms the world over. We have the ability to put smiles on the faces of hiring authorities, candidates and our colleagues, and we strive to truly make a difference in the lives of those we do business with and in our community. We know that we are in a great position. We want to positively impact your organization because of the amazing people who have impacted ours.
If you have followed us in social media or partnered with our organization in the past, you may already be familiar with our 22 Principles. Each represents a piece of our company culture, influencing every search that we embark on as we look to find a home away from home for our candidates. Over the coming months, we plan to further highlight our 22 Principles, shining a light on the way we do things at Charles Aris Inc.
