Remote work trends in corporate development
“Are corporate development professionals coming back to the office?” That’s the question many of our clients are beginning to ask us. Based on the data in our 2022 Mid-Year Corporate Development Offer Report, the answer is unclear.
Year-over-year, remote corporate development placements have dropped by nine percentage points since the back-half of 2021 but are still up by 25% since this time last year.
Furthermore, there were no clear trend lines around level, geography or years of experience as it relates to the remote work option.
Based on anecdotal conversations with our clients, we speculate that a percentage of the leadership teams we work with began reverting to their philosophy of keeping employees in the office as the CDC eased Covid-19 restrictions in early 2022. We have also found more candidates expressing an interest in wanting to return to the office and a willingness to even travel or relocate to do so.
While there is some appetite for a return to the office, and some are already beginning to do so, corporate development roles will likely continue utilizing remote work for at least the near future.
