Charles Aris publishes new strategy consulting compensation studies

Charles Aris recently published two new editions of its industry-leading compensation
studies: The 2023 Strategy Consulting Compensation Study and the 2023 Former
Consultant Compensation Study.

As one of the 30 largest executive search firms in the United States, Charles Aris has
received ongoing feedback that these reports serve as useful benchmarking tools for
strategy executives who are either hiring for their team or pursuing new opportunities.

“We consistently hear from candidates and clients alike on how invaluable this information is
to them as they think about their own careers and compensation, as well as how they
structure compensation and hire for their own teams,” says Jody Bischoff, a vice president
and strategy practice leader at Charles Aris.

The firm collected the information for these studies through a voluntary and anonymous
survey conducted in the second half of 2022. Roughly two-thirds of the survey’s
respondents self-identified as consultants from one of “The Big Three” firms: The Boston
Consulting Group, Bain & Company or McKinsey & Company.

An interesting data point included in the 2023 Strategy Consulting Compensation Study
shows that post-MBA strategy consultants experienced a 12.6% increase in compensation
from 2021 to 2022, while pre-MBA consultants saw an increase of 11.6%. These increases
are more in line with historic growth rates as opposed to the larger increases we saw from
2020 to 2021.

The Charles Aris Strategy Practice has placed over 1,200 consultants from the top-tier
strategy firms into corporate America, private equity and asset management organizations
since its inception in 2003. This year, the practice will celebrate its 20th anniversary.
